  Northern Virginia Campus History

Shenandoah University's Northern Virginia Campus'
The NVC was founded in Leesburg in 1990, with the ongoing mission of serving the region’s adult educational needs by providing degree and non-degree programs.

In the early days, we had only classes for the Master’s in business administration. They were held in numerous locations, including the basement of a local bank, and the jury box of one of the courts. As the program grew, the University established a permanent campus in the Jewell Building on Catoctin Circle in Leesburg. That facility occupied nearly 5,500 sq. ft., with administrative offices, a reception area, a student lounge and four large classrooms.

As our programming grew to include several Master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in education, as well as various offerings in continuing education, it became obvious that we needed more space.

The Campus Today
In May of 2001 the Northern Virginia Campus moved to its current location of 908 Trailview Blvd. in Leesburg. Our state-of-the-art facility consists of over 11,000 square feet, with a reception area, faculty and staff offices, lounge, computer lab, nursing lab, wireless internet access, and T1 Internet Connection. All of our classrooms are equipped with multimedia capability—LCD projectors, DVD/VCR projectors, and wireless computer interface. Most students are issued laptops to enhance their studies.

The campus was designed with the adult student in mind. Everything from carpeting to wall covering gives the impression of a corporate office environment, which appeals to students in all programs. The campus is open all year, from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. - 4p.m. on Fridays. We are also open on certain Saturdays, as well.
