2010 Spirituality Conference

  • Wednesday, October 27, 2010
  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Ferrari Room, Brandt Student Center at Shenandoah University
    Winchester, Virginia
  • Conference Co-Sponsored by Shenandoah University and Valley Health

Background

Delivering healing and compassionate care for the whole person (body, mind and spirit) remains the primary mission of medicine and health care. Evidence shows a profound relationship between a patient’s spiritual life and his/her experience at the time of illness.  Recent research has demonstrated improved patient outcomes when spirituality is incorporated into medical practice.  Yet, addressing spirituality is often neglected.  It may be overshadowed by the challenges of time constraints and prioritizing care, and many health care providers simply do not have the comfort level, specific tools or skills needed to incorporate spirituality into the hectic pace of modern day healthcare delivery. This full day, regional conference provides the knowledge, skills and tools for addressing patients’ spiritual needs for best practices in any health care setting.
