Program's Mission and Purpose
The mission of the Political Science program at Shenandoah University is to provide students with a richer understanding of politics, public policy and government so that they may become effective citizen leaders and participate more fully in the democratic process.

Program Curriculum
The Political Science Program Curriculum is designed to help the student understand the way in which, for a society, policy is formulated and executed, and to understand the moral and legal authority by which policy is or ought to be set. The center of interest for this program curriculum is the study of power, government institutions, bureaucracy, and the state of human relations in their political context, both domestically and internationally. Emphasis is placed on enhancing the student's overall comprehension of democracy and the administration of government so that he or she can become an effective citizen, and appropriately consider career options in political science related fields.
