Foreign Languages and Literatures

Shenandoah University educates and inspires individuals to be critical, reflective thinkers; lifelong learners; and ethical, compassionate citizens who are committed to making responsible contributions within a community, a nation and the world.

In line with this mission, the Foreign Languages Dept. seeks to prepare students to be true Global Citizens. With an international focus, our curriculum provides an educational foundation that facilitates the pursuit of linguistic, pedagogical or literary studies in graduate school, or to teach foreign languages on the secondary level. In addition, we promote service learning within the community and offer various study abroad opportunities.
