The Kinesiology Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Because of the diversity of the field, students are provided opportunities to pursue one of three emphases within the major: Sport Management, Exercise Science, or Teacher licensure in the field of Physical Education. Minors in Kinesiology are also offered, and the Sport Management articulated program includes a minor in business. In addition, a Pre-Athletic Training program is offered in which students will complete three years of undergraduate education prior to entering the Athletic Training Graduate Program, following the Exercise Science emphasis. Upon completion of the first year of the Graduate Program, Athletic Training students will be eligible for the Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology.
The variety of educational opportunities in Kinesiology leads to a wide variety of possible career choices for graduates, including sports promotions, sporting event management, athletics administration, cardiac rehabilitation, personal trainer, strength and conditioning specialist, athletic trainer, physical education teacher, or coach, to name just a few. In addition, preparation for national and state certifications, such as ACSM's Health and Fitness Instructor, and NSCA's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist is an integral part of the curriculum.
