At 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, the community is invited to participate in a march, beginning at Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre and ending at Goodson Chapel, in remembrance of the Civil Rights marches of the 1960s. The day’s activities continue at 7 p.m. in Goodson Chapel, where students will share their interpretations of Dr. King’s legacy.
The special event includes a Harambee gospel choir reunion, organized by alumna La Tasha Jones-Hicks and alumnus LaVarn Gordon. The Rev. Clyde Nelson of Market Street United Methodist Church in Winchester will deliver a powerful message on the theme “Remember! Celebrate! Act!”
“Dr. King embodied many of the principles at the core of SU’s values and mission. Please join our students, faculty and staff to remember his passion for service and rekindle your own,”said DeLyn Celec, worship art coordinator for the Office of Spiritual Life.
