Eagles Soar Past Women's Lax

WINCHESTER, Va. –Visiting Bridgewater College kept Shenandoah University winless on its 2008 women's lacrosse season with an 18-5 non-league win Friday afternoon.

Shenandoah (0-4) scored the game’s opening goal on a Sara Mucciaro(http://www.su.edu/athletics/players.cfm?rid=1379&sport=Women's%20Lacrosse) to Ashley Heroth (http://www.su.edu/athletics/players.cfm?rid=1376&sport=Women's%20Lacrosse) tally at 27:40.

Bridgewater (2-1) answered back exactly one minute later with the first of what would become nine straight goals for the Eagles.

Mucciaro finally snapped that nine-goal run with a goal off a Katherine Flint (http://www.su.edu/athletics/players.cfm?rid=1388&sport=Women's%20Lacrosse) assist 6:52 before halftime, but SU was unable to significantly cut into the deficit.

Flint, in her first game with the team after joining the squad following the completion of basketball season, made it 9-3 in favor of the visitors when she scored at 5:57.

Bridgewater then sandwiched a seven-goal run around the halftime break. Mucciaro and Laurel Smith (http://www.su.edu/athletics/players.cfm?rid=1381&sport=Women's%20Lacrosse) rounded out the Hornets scoring on the day with unassisted goals at 1:14 and 10:08 of the second, respectively.

BC outshot SU 34-22 and won 14 of the game’s 22 draws. The two teams each had 29 groundballs.

Virginia Thomas (http://www.su.edu/athletics/players.cfm?rid=1383&sport=Women's%20Lacrosse) made eight saves in her first start for the hosts.

Shenandoah is off for spring break for the next eight days and does not return until traveling to Christopher Newport for a USA South Conference game on Sunday, March 16.
