Jazz Legend Randy Brecker Performs at Shenandoah University, April 21

Concert with Conservatory Jazz Ensemble Featuring Grammy Award-Winning Jazz Trumpeter Randy Brecker Celebrates April as Jazz Appreciation Month

Jazz Trumpet Legend Randy Brecker will perform with the Shenandoah Conservatory Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, in Armstrong Concert Hall on the main campus of Shenandoah University. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and free for SU students, faculty and staff.

Brecker has been shaping the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists, including James Taylor, Charles Mingus, Spiro Gyra, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, Horace Silver, Frank Zappa, and many others.

He and his late brother saxophonist Michael Brecker are considered pioneers in the field of jazz fusion, with the group Dreams and later with their own important band The Brecker Brothers.

This will be his third appearance with the Shenandoah Conservatory Jazz Ensemble, having performed on campus in 1988 and 1997.
