Join in the festivities as Shenandoah University celebrates Homecoming 2010, Oct. 14 – 17. A pep rally Thursday, Oct. 14 on the Loudoun Street walking mall in downtown Winchester kicked off the weekend of events. Baseball Coach Kevin Anderson and Director of Career Services Jennifer Spataro-Wison were named Faculty/Staff Homecoming King and Queen, respectively. Homecoming events continue on Shenandoah University’s main campus throughout the weekend. “This year, we’ll celebrate SU's 50th year in Winchester, recognize the Class of 1985 as they celebrate their 25th reunion and honor three Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. A special choir reunion, a decade of the 1970s reunion, a tailgate party and the Homecoming football game will round out the weekend,” said Lynnette Lofton Embree '90, '92, president of the SU Alumni Association.
The choir reunion will give alumni the chance to sing with former and current SU directors, including David Stutzenberger, James Laster, Robert Shafter and Karen Keating. The SU Alumni Chorus will sing the National Anthem before Saturday’s Homecoming football game against Methodist at 7 p.m.
The Tailgate Party & Family Fun Festival will offer activities for all ages. In addition to live music, food, a moon bounce and climbing wall, Ronald McDonald will make an appearance between 5 and 6 p.m.
